Trans Am & Chill

It’s Friday night. You’ve worked all week, and now you finally get a moment to kick back and relax. Want some inspiration to get you started on that carburetor swap you’ve been putting off? Want to crack open a beer and learn some cool racing history? All you have to do is check out this way cool video that highlights the history of Trans Am racing from ’66-’95.

The Trans Am series holds a very special place in this muscle car fanatic’s heart. Sure, we all know about how muscle cars were basically the be-all-end-all of drag racing in the 60’s and 70’s, but what about their ability to turn? In the Trans Am racing series, turn they did. Very quickly, I might add.

These cars were pretty heavily modified, but nowhere near the level of modification we see in today’s cars built for the track. These cars are raw power. No computer controlled traction assist, no braking assist, no nothing.  But that’s the fun of it, right? The intrigue. You have to give it to these drivers. They had some real skill. And balls that seriously clank.

Crack open that beer, and crank up the volume.
