This Video Got Us Thinking…What Are the Worst Muscle Cars of the 90’s?

Sure, it’s pretty much a simple click-bait video that some Youtube page threw together, but it really does beg the question; “What are the worst muscle cars from the 90’s?”

I mean–come on, now. This video starts right off by saying that the Camaro is in the running. However, this is a list of the 7 “most worst” muscle cars of the 90’s. Yes, most worst. I wonder if they have a video of the 7 “more bestest” muscle cars of the 90’s somewhere. I digress. Let’s dig in anyways.

Starting off with the 1993 Camaro. The video goes straight for the Camaro’s looks, stating it was curvy and bulbous-looking compared to the 3rd generation, taking away from its aggressive looks. Well, there’s plenty of room for argument there. Let’s just saying that looks are subjective. Power went up to 275 HP from 245 the previous year, so that’s already a step in the right direction. And if you take the ’93 Camaro out, what are you left with? A Mercury Cougar?

Next up, the Mercury Cougar. Bet you didn’t expect that one. This homely little car deserves to be on the list. Long gone are the days of the Cougar being an “upscale” Mustang. Yup, this thing is pretty much a turd, and it looks like one, too. In 1999, it had a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder. Barf.

The 1994 Mustang GT. Again, can we really knock it? Sure, it’s nothing compared to the muscle cars of today, but when comparing to present day, even the best of the classics barely come anywhere close. Pretty anemic, but that was the 80’s and 90’s for you. That Camaro is really looking pretty nice now, huh?

A Corvette Pace car? Yea, it’s the epitome of ugly 90’s styling. Kind of looks like a windbreaker I might have had when I was a kid. We’re not sure how it ranks among the worst, though. Next.

Ah, ok–the 1993 Firebird. Same car as the Camaro basically, but it looks different. Why wasn’t this car just number 6 right after the Camaro? That being said, let’s take a quick look back now. We have a Camaro, Mustang, Firebird, and Corvette. Is there anything else we can even consider a muscle car from the 90’s?

Moving on, is the Monte Carlo a muscle car? I’m not sure. It wasn’t even really what I’d consider a muscle car when it originally came out. Sure, you could get a big honkin’ V8 in it, but I’m not sure I’d classify it as a muscle car. The 80’s Monte Carlo was about as close as it got to being a muscle car, and that’s kind of a stretch, too. The 90’s Monte Carlo? Front wheel drive with a V6? Forget it.

The Thunderbird shared a lot of parts with the Mustang, but was a little heavier and not really a looker, so it never got a ton of love. It is however, a little more unique, so it has that going for it. Since it shares parts with the Mustang, there’s definitely parts availability.
