Super Track Pack Springs on a “Regular” Challenger R/T
Author: Dan Stollings, owner of the “Bitchin’ Banana”
A couple weeks ago, I got a good deal on some STP springs from a guy on a Facebook page for Challengers. If you do some searching, you’ll find that there’s been some people that have tried STP springs as a budget friendly way to lower their car–with varying success.
I’m here to add to that “varying success” today. I only paid $70 for shipping to get these springs, so I never had high expectations going into this, but I wanted to try it out anyways. FOR SCIENCE!
As you can see from the video, it isn’t a huge change, and I never expected it to be. But what surprised me, is that the rears dropped more than the front. Everything I had read before installing them, is that the front will go down 1″, and the rear 1/2″. Well, I’ve been driving it with the STP springs for about a week now, and the rear has gone down about 1.25″, and the front maybe .20″. I used KYB shocks for the rear, and Monroe for the front–basically OEM replacements.
It does seem like the springs may still be settling…considering the fact that one side seems to be higher than the other. I’m waiting a few more days to see if it drops anymore, but if not, I may chop the springs down a bit to get it where I want it. I still have the factory springs in case it gets too messed up.
Got the Demon replica wheels and Nitto tires installed, too, and I’m loving the look more and more every day!
